This filter housing prototype was developed from a Y-strainer filter housing design. In the conventional design the filter housing is made from 3 parts, here the AM design incorporates the fluid inlet and outlet and the dirt collection reservoir. The complex design also incorporates the filter element fixings, inlet and outlet in the dirt reservoir. This design will enable removal of particulates from the filter without removing the filter screen.
The combination of parts has reduced labour costs in the construction of the filter housing, reduced the risk of part damage during component construction and allowed the incorporation of design features that decrease maintenance downtime in the end-user’s process.
